about

This EP was recorded here and there when I first moved to New York. It was completed and mastered in the fall of 2008, but I never showed anyone and stuck the master under my bed. I dug it up recently and realized I like the songs and what they represent about my first few years in New York.

credits

released November 11, 2010

Recorded + Mixed by Blake Luley in his apartments in Bensonhurst and Bushwick (Brooklyn, NY) in 2007-2008.

Mastered by Mitch Rackin at Tone Float Recording

My absolute favorites did these things:
Gleb Boundin- Singing on intro of "Blackberry Pie", mumbling incoherently on "Before I Drown", dealing with me recording at all hours of the night.
Miles Waltuck- I sampled this good dudes vocals for "(interlude)"
Jan Luley- I sampled my moms voice from some old stuff for "Blackberry Pie"

The lyrics in the first part of "Blackberry Pie" are randomly selected excerpts from William Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying" (because we got high).

The intro sample in "Before I Drown" is "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana
